A thin clear polymer film of several layers which is applied in overlapping wraps around boxed and/or palletised goods. The film is stretched either manually or by machine as it is applied in order to elastically draw the items together. The inner surface of the film is slightly tacky enabling the layers to stick to each other. Provides a water and damage resistant surface and consolidates several items into one securely wrapped consignment.
Virtually all stretch film used in the U.K. is produced by extruding molten polymer through an annular die with a cold air blast in the centre - somewhat similar to blowing a huge bubble. The resulting ‘blown’ film has excellent multi-directional strength and puncture resistance.
